Power of Belief

Why is it that so many people allow what they see or what others “might” be thinking to shape their lives? Why is it that some wake each day with painful feelings of despair, sadness, depression, bitterness, helplessness, hate, etc., while others wake up with intense feelings of joy, gratitude, yearning to share and help others, or eager to explore and learn?
Billions of tax dollars are taken from hard working citizens every year to fund public education, a system designed to teach and prepare young students to become productive members of society. However, when we examine the results it’s hard not to notice that something is missing. Many of the most successful and admired minds throughout history were not inspired by books or lessons from instructors, but rather a burning internal passion. Those who achieve exceptional things “believe” they can first …whether for good or bad this is their starting point.
Very little attention is given to “how we think” or how our “thinking” can be applied to whatever we desire in primary or elementary schools. If more students were to learn “how” the human mind operates, they could develop powerful and enduring belief in their abilities. Henry Ford expressed it well when he said, “whether you believe you can or you believe you cannot, either way you are right”. Another powerful passage comes from scripture and it reads, “Whatsoever ye believe, when ye pray, believe that you receive them and ye shall have them”. Mark 11:24. Or from Romans 12:2, “Be ye transformed by a renewing of the mind”. Teaching the unbounded potential of every human being, every mind, should be an integral part of every school curriculum. We need to begin early to teach students the potential in every mind .Understanding how we think and why we do what we do will help students to mature and find harmony within the world as they assimilate into a global society.
Picture a young student with a genius 200 IQ level. In most circles he or she would be considered super intelligent and capable of remarkable things. However, what if that person believed he was ugly, fat and unloved? What if as a result of those beliefs he also “felt” that others disliked him and that he was unworthy to participate in groups because of the pain and discomfort he “felt” when he was put in those situations? Do you think he would reach his full potential? Not a very good probability, right? Yet, if the same person chose to believe differently and move through his initial and temporary experiences of pain and discomfort, he would slowly develop new neural pathways in his brain. This new neural “highway” would produce constructive feelings (chemical releases to cells throughout the body) that would ultimately propel him towards his desires. This is how habits are formed.
The body is a miracle system that performs functions so interconnected and so sophisticated that even science cannot replicate the results. However, a sophisticated link between mind and the myriad of chemical interactions that follow within the body were referenced (Symbolically) by ancient scholars and scripture. Furthermore, most diseases can be linked to the complex chemical releases (peptides) that follow certain harmful emotional patterns or feelings (stress)…and these are triggered by our belief systems. Carl Jung, a great psychiatrist stated that, “What we resist persists”. So if what we think about most eventually comes to fruition, it goes to reason that when we worry and fret about past and future events, we harm our now time and our potential (future).
In contrast to the earlier example of the genius, imagine a student who seldom gets above average grades and has only an average IQ of 118. The difference being…this student was raised by parents who empowered the child with resilient and empowering self esteem. They taught the child that the world loved him, that he was gifted, that he had many great things to share with others, and that difficulty produced only challenges that would bring great opportunity on which to build, share and experience life. So, which of these persons do you think would be more apt to embrace life and experience joy and harmony in the world? Amazing isn’t it? The power of belief is extraordinary indeed, and ironically, millions of people waste their precious time living lives for others or based upon what other “might” believe. What a travesty.
Belief in every mind will form emotions that produce greatness and love or fear, despair, and loss. Take a look at the list of names below and consider what each person might have believed or believes. Think about whether or not each could have attained such fame or success without a burning desire for achieving something more, without failure, without sacrifice, or without a driving belief that they could do it… and do more. Each wanted something special, each believed they could, and each gave something to reach their passion. In the end, they did or do what others had believed or said was impossible. They all accomplished extraordinary things…and each “Believed” they could.
Abraham Lincoln
Nelson Mandela
Martin Luther King, Jr
Thomas Jefferson
Jesse Owens
Roger Bannister
Bill Gates
Timothy Berners Lee
Charles Lindberg
Mother Theresa
Gandhi
Michael Phelps
Tiger Woods
Ben Hogan
Norman Vincent Peale
Billy Graham
Winston Churchill
All of these people made a difference because they had a burning desire and resolute faith. They did not focus on limitations, but rather on developing their personal strengths. They did not listen to what others said could not be done; they believed and then manifested a life brimming with internal faith and action. Easy was never part of the equation, although “easy” is certainly a theme for producing mediocrity, depression, anxiety and failure. Developing a system to simplify is part of growth, but the value of sacrifice comes from the journey to an end result. It cannot be found in books, on pages, or in words. Accomplishing the impossible starts with a belief in mind, it is followed by intense feeling (passion), and then with action.
You see, “achieving” abundance is part of the secret to experiencing long-term joy in life. Material possessions or achievements may be sought, but that which goes into personal growth and love is what fuels human contentment. The unbounded potential of every human being, every mind, should be taught in the schools.Understanding how we think and why we do what we do will help students to mature and find harmony within the world as they assimilate into a global society.
Religious scripture, ancient wisdom and quantum science all support the conclusion that we are made entirely of energy. In fact, everything in the universe is made up of energy. Unfortunately, because we rely primarily on our eyes (visual lenses) to perceive and the brain to interpret truth or fiction, it can be difficult for people to fathom this concept. Still, it is scientifically proven that we and our world are comprised entirely of energy that vibrates at various frequencies. These frequencies operate much like a radio dial that we can adjust to change stations. Since we are energy that vibrates, we also control our vibrations based upon what we believe and the feelings manifested from those thoughts. The feelings of love, anger, joy, compassion, resentment, etc. all vibrate at different frequencies.
To construct important neural brain pathways on which your positive thoughts will flow and manifest your desired future, you should write down what you want to become and then begin reading those affirmations daily. When you read your daily affirmations you should also visualize as though you are there, or have lived each. You see, when you visualize in the mind you will go there in the body. It may seem like some voodoo gibberish, but sophisticated bio-feedback equipment used in NASA projects has proven this to be true. You must first “feel” what it is like by visualizing your affirmations or dreams (promises). Without visualizing and FEELING as if they were now, your affirmations will serve much like the space shuttle without fuel…incredible potential but not going anywhere.
Believe you can in the mind, picture and feel it as completed (real), and then move forward with specific action and complete faith. As Mr. Zig Ziglar likes to say, Inch by Inch it’s a synch”.
